Akshardham

This is the most famous temple of "Swaminarayana" sect, the richest in the world. The temple is built with pink stones and embellished by beautiful carvings. It is surrounded by lush green gardens, admirable fountains, an array of entertaining shows and a food court. A definite place to visit for the discerning traveler.


Children's Park

major attraction for children and holidaymakers. It has open gardens which feature a mini train and a lake along with boating facilities.


Sarita Udyan

The beautiful Sarita Udyan is another ideal spot for picnickers. The entire area is currently being developed to provide full recreational facilities.


Adalaj Vav

Just 5 kms from Gandhinagar, Adalaj Vav is one of the architectural marvels of Gandhinagar. The five-storied, step well located in the sleepy village of Adalaj is a piece of architecture, and is a classic example of the Indo-Islamic style of construction.


Deer Park

Deer park is situated just adjacent to Sarita Udyan on the outskirts of the city. It serves as the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The park is quite popular amongst both the young and the old, alike.


Gandhi Ashram

On a quiet stretch of the Sabarmati river lies the Gandhi Ashram, established in 1920. During the lifetime of Mahatma Gandhi, it was known as Satya Grah Ashram and was the center of struggle for independence. It was from here, in 1930, that the Mahatma started on his famous "Dandi March" to the sea to protest against the Salt Tax imposed by the British.


Mosque of Sidi Sayid

The Mosque of Sidi Sayid, with its intricate stone tracery and patterns of banyan tree on its windows is another tourist attraction in Ahmedabad.


Hathee Singh Jain Temple

Built by Sheth Hathee Singh in 1848, the Hathee Singh Temple, located outside the Delhi Gate, is worked in pure white marble. It houses 52 shrines, each with an idol of a Jain Tirthankar.


Nal Sarovar

A delightful haven of both migratory and common birds, Nal Sarovar, a natural lake, situated 70 kilometers from Ahmedabad, is a perfect retreat for those who want to absorb themselves in absolute serenity. Spread across a rambling expanse of 116 sq km, this natural asylum of rare and exotic birds looks as if it were a fairyland. Avian flock from Siberia is the most precious visitor in this park. Around 250 varieties of wet land birds, along with the winter and spring guests like Pelicans, White Storks, Rosy Flamingoes, Brahminy Ducks and Herons gives a magnificent look to this sanctuary. Bird lovers should reach here at dawn since most of the avian flock is visible during that time. Country boats hired on rent would suffice you with the unique opportunity of viewing the bird flock at a close angle. Another important spectacle in this region is the vast number of atolls where you can spot nomadic populace.


Jhulta Minar

This is quite an unusual structure. Jhulta Minara or swaying minarets are a part of the mosque of Siddi Bashir and can be swayed by applying a little force at the topmost arch. One of the minarets was partly demolished by an Englishman in his endeavours to unravel the mystery of the swaying minarets. The mosque was obviously built by master craftsmen and the crucial mechanism that causes the vibration is still a mystery.
